How to provide API Access to amberSearch through Zope

To be able to index all sites, we need to create a service account with Manager rights. This guide explains step by step how to setup a new service account.

  1. As an administrator, log in to the Zope Management Interface usually located at https://<your-plone-address>/manage_main/

  2. In the Management Interface, navigate to acl_users users or directly open https://<your-plone-address>/acl_users/users/manage_users

  3. By clicking on (Add a user), open the form to create the new service account amberSearch.

  4. Set a secure password, then click Add User

  5. Once amberSearch has been created successfully, navigate to acl_users roles or directly open https://<your-plone-address>/acl_users/roles/manage_roles

  6. Here we can assign the Manager role to the newly created user by clicking on the Edit Assignments icon in the Manager row

  7. A new section, Assign Role: Manager , opens below. Search for the service account user amberSearch and assign the Manager role by moving it from Available to Active

  8. You should be able to verify that this user can now see all content across all sites in your Plone instance

  9. Finally, provide the public URL https://<your-plone-address>/and the service-account credentials (amberSearch, incl. the secure password) to the amber support team.
