🖌️New Log-In Page

To further improve your first impression of us, we have adapted the log-in page to our CI.

If you log in again, don't forget to click "Stay logged in" to be automatically logged in next time.

📃Open Office documents directly in the respective desktop applications

⚠️Note: This feature is only supported for Office 2019 and higher.

If you prefer to work in the desktop applications of Word, PowerPoint or Excel, use the right-click option to open these documents directly from amberSearch.

👓Revised file preview

The file preview has been further developed

Last time we told you about our folder preview. We have developed this further. The corresponding folder is now highlighted directly when the preview is opened.

🛫Have amberSearch as your Landing Page

Here you can find instructions to make amberSearch one of your (sub)start pages in the browser. The instructions are valid for Chrome, Edge and Firefox.

To avoid always having to navigate to amberSearch, it makes sense that amberSearch opens directly when you start your browser.

Hints

💡Make sure that the URL has the correct format: https://demo.ambersearch.de/

Note 1: The part demo.ambersearch.de is of course always individual.

Note 2: Omit "www."

Chrome

Follow these steps to set amberSearch as the startup page for Chrome:

  1. In Chrome, navigate to "chrome://settings/onStartup." Either navigate through the menu or type it directly in the address bar.

    1. Alternative via menu navigation:

      1. Click on "⁝" in the upper right corner

      2. Click on "Settings"

      3. Click on "at startup"

  2. Click on "Add new page", enter the URL and confirm the new page. Please follow the instructions at the top of this page!

Edge

Follow these steps to set amberSearch as the home page for Edge:

  1. In Edge, navigate to "edge://settings/startHomeNTP". Either navigate through the menu or type it directly in the address bar.

    1. Alternative via menu navigation:

      1. Click on "..." in the upper right corner.

      2. Click on "Settings"

      3. Click on "Start, Home and new tabs".

  2. Under "When Microsoft starts" click on "Open these pages".

  3. Click on "Add new page", enter the URL and confirm the new page. Please follow the instructions at the top of this page!

Firefox

Folge diesen Schritten, um amberSearch als Startseite für Firefox einzustellen:

  1. Navigate to "about:preferences#home" in Firefox. Either navigate through the menu or type it directly in the address bar.

    1. Alternative via menu navigation:

      1. Click on "≡" in the upper right corner.

      2. Click on "Settings"

      3. Click on "Start page"

  2. At "Home and new windows" click on the dropdown at "Firefox home page (default)" and select "Custom addresses...".

  3. Enter your URL (please note the hints at the top of this page) and click "Use current page".

🆙Use shortcuts to start your search directly from the address bar!

Start the search with an abbreviation in the address bar - e.g. "as" (for amberSearch) so you don't have to navigate to the search first, but just tapping in the address bar can start the search for you. These instructions are valid for Chrome and Edge.

See here a small example and note the "as" which is typed before the search query:

    2. Scroll down to "Website Search" and click on "Add". Enter the following information in the window that opens:

      1. Search Engine: The name of the search engine (amberSearch or other internally assigned names for amberSearch).

      2. Shortcut: The shortcut you want to use to start the search

      3. URL with %s instead of the search query: This is the domain of the amberSearch start page (in the correct format, see notes above) with the addition "/search?q=%s".

    3. Click on "Add

      2. Shortcut: The shortcut you want to use to start the search

      3. URL with %s instead of the search query: This is the domain of the amberSearch start page (in the correct format, see notes above) with the addition "/search?q=%s".

    3. Click on "Add"

Here you can find instructions to open amberSearch directly from your desktop. So you don't have to navigate to amberSearch in your browser. The instructions are valid for Chrome, Edge and Firefox.

For all options, make sure that you start from the home page of amberSearch.

Chrome

Follow these steps to create a shortcut to amberSearch in Chrome on your desktop:

  1. Click on "⁝" in the upper right corner.

  2. Click on "More Tools"

  3. Click on "Create shortcut

  4. Name your shortcut and click on "Create".

  5. Additionally, drag the created shortcut to the taskbar as shown in the video:

Follow these steps to create a shortcut to amberSearch in Edge on your desktop:

  1. Click on "..." in the upper right corner.

  2. Click on "Apps"

  3. Click on "Install this website as an app".

  4. Click on "Install

  5. In the window that opens, select all the options you want and click "Allow".

  1. Drag the screen so that you see both your desktop and amberSearch.

  2. Drag and drop the lock 🔒 right next to the URL onto your desktop.

  3. Additionally, drag the created shortcut to the taskbar

🔖Bookmark amberSearch

Here you can find instructions on how to bookmark amberSearch. This way you don't have to enter the URL in the browser first, but can navigate there directly with one click. The instructions are valid for Chrome, Edge and Firefox.

For all options, make sure that you start from the home page of amberSearch.

Follow these steps to bookmark amberSearch in Chrome:

  1. Navigate to the amberSearch homepage.

  2. Click on "⭐" in the upper right corner next to the address bar

  3. Click on "Done"

🔍Start your search from SharePoint pages or your intranet

With amberSearch you have the possibility to integrate the search into existing systems via an IFrame.

For example, if you are in SharePoint, you can directly start a search in amberSearch across all systems.

To set up this system, the support of your administrator or the site manager is required.We have provided complete instructions on how the set-up works here.

👥For end users: how do I install amberSearch as an end user in my Teams?

Just follow the instructions below:

  1. Open Teams

  2. In Teams, click Apps on the left side.

  3. Search for amberSearch (you will only find amberSearch if your administrator has approved amberSearch. Feel free to contact our support for assistance).

  4. Click on the app and then on "Add".

  5. amberSearch opens, right click on the added icon on the left side and click on "Pin".

  6. Then log in to amberSearch with your log-ins.
